Route 02 · Main plan
Germany plan
Tuition-free public universities and an English-taught 2-year master's (some take 1.5 years), paid for with a blocked account in year 1 and a working-student job in year 2.
Exact step-by-step guide (17 stages: HEC, uni-assist, blocked account, Karachi visa, arrival, jobs, Blue Card) + German scholarships →
Blocked account
- Current blocked account (since 1 Jan 2025)Verified€11,904/yr (€992/mo) ≈ 38.1 lakh
- Likely 2027 amount (BAföG-linked increase)Unverified≈ €12,600–13,000 ≈ 40–42 lakh
This is your own living money, paid back to you monthly. If it ends up above PKR 40 lakh, top it up from the expenses budget.
One-time costs: ≈ 9–13 lakh PKR
| Item | PKR lakh |
|---|---|
| HEC attestation + MOFA apostille + translations | 0.3–0.5 |
| uni-assist (€75 first + €30 each), ~6 applications | ~0.7 |
| Blocked account setup, visa fee (€75), travel insurance | ~1.0 |
| Flight Karachi → Germany | 1.5–2.5 |
| First semester fee (€127–500) | 0.4–1.6 |
| Rent deposit (2–3 months' cold rent) | 3.0–4.8 |
| Settling in (SIM, bedding, first weeks) | 1.0–1.6 |
Monthly reality
€992/month must cover rent (€350–700), insurance (~€140), food (~€250), phone/transport (~€60). Tight in Munich/Frankfurt/Hamburg; workable in Dortmund, Passau, Würzburg, Göttingen, Hildesheim, Chemnitz.
Year 2
Year 2 is paid by a working-student job: 20 hrs/week × €15–20 ≈ €1,200–1,500/month. Keep ~PKR 10 lakh untouched as a buffer.
Application process, step by step
- 1.DocumentsOct – Dec 2026
- –HEC eDAS (Rs 3,000/doc) + MOFA apostille
- –MOI letter (“exclusively 100% English”)
- –Course descriptions / module handbook
- –CV, motivation letter, 2 references
- –Work experience letters
- 2.ApplicationsJan – Jul 2027
- –uni-assist takes 4–6 weeks: full application or VPD
- –Direct portals: Darmstadt, Göttingen, Hildesheim, Chemnitz
- –No APS needed for Pakistan (verified)
- –Apply early, even if the deadline is later
- 3.MoneyThe week an offer arrives
- –Open blocked account (Expatrio / Fintiba / Coracle)
- –Travel insurance for the visa
- –Public student insurance at enrolment (~€140/mo)
- 4.VisaImmediately after an offer
- –Sindh residents apply to the Karachi Consulate
- –Online via Consular Services Portal (digital.diplo.de/studium)
- –Upload documents + admission letter from the start
- –Handled in order received; wait times vary widely
- –Too late? Switch to April 2028
- 5.HousingAs soon as admitted
- –Studierendenwerk dorms (€300–450)
- –WG-Gesucht as backup; never pay before viewing
- 6.ArrivalSep – Oct 2027
- –Address registration (Anmeldung) within 2 weeks
- –Enrol + residence permit
- –Apply for Werkstudent / HiWi jobs right away
Working in Germany
- –140 full days or 280 half days per year; university HiWi jobs don't count toward it
- –Employee jobs only: no freelance or self-employed gigs on a student visa
- –Minimum wage €13.90/hr (2026) → €14.60/hr (2027)
- –After graduating: 18-month job-search permit; Blue Card ≈ €45,934 for recent graduates
| Path | Pay | Value |
|---|---|---|
| Working student (Werkstudent) in AI/software | €15–22/hr | Best: covers living costs and often leads to a full-time offer |
| HiWi (student assistant) in a uni AI lab | €13–15/hr | Easiest first job; usually English |
| Odd jobs (warehouse, kitchen, retail) | Minimum wage | Safety net only; saves nothing |
English-only jobs are concentrated in Berlin, Munich, Hamburg and Frankfurt. German A2/B1 learned during the master's roughly doubles your options.
Main risk: the visa queue
- –Sindh residents apply to the Karachi Consulate through the online Consular Services Portal
- –Applications are handled in the order received; reported waits range from weeks to 12+ months
- –So prefer early-deadline programmes and submit the visa application the day you get an offer
- –If it's too late, ask the university to switch you to April 2028 (the embassy suggests this)
- –No APS certificate is needed for Pakistan (only China, India, Vietnam, Mongolia)
