What the deep research changed

  • –The usual DAAD master's scholarship is NOT open to Pakistanis this cycle. In Germany, the realistic money is AI-school stipends (relAI, ELIZA), the €300/month Deutschlandstipendium (apply after admission) and university awards
  • –One IELTS sitting (7.0) would unlock big fully funded options: KAUST (deadline 3 Jan 2027, full fellowship), MBZUAI (15 Dec), HBKU (1 Feb), Khalifa, plus EDISS/CYBERSURE in Erasmus Mundus
  • –Without IELTS, the best funded options are DEAI (11 Jan), IPCVai (EMJM, MOI accepted, 2 Feb), MAIA (opens soon), Stipendium Hungaricum (~15 Jan) and GKS (Korea, ~Feb–Mar, but a Korean language year)
  • –Top-ups for a self-funded Germany plan: Aga Khan Foundation (50% grant / 50% loan, ~Mar 2027) and Rotary Global Grant (US$30k+, approach Karachi clubs now)
  • –Chevening, Fulbright, Australia Awards and HEC overseas awards carry return-home or service bonds, which clashes with your earn-abroad goal

MBZUAI MSc (Machine Learning, Computer Vision, NLP, Robotics, Computer Science and others)
high fitopenUnited Arab Emirates · Gulf & Asia
Deadline: Portal opened 1 Sep 2026; final deadline 15 Dec 2026; decisions by 31 Mar 2027; Fall 2027 starts mid-August 2027. Funding is competitive, so apply early.

This is the world's most AI-focused university, it is near Karachi, and Abu Dhabi has a strong AI job market for an earn-then-return plan. The 2027 policy change means funding is no longer guaranteed, and the deadline is 15 Dec 2026. Applying for the waiver might avoid IELTS, but get it confirmed in writing.

Host
Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, Abu Dhabi
Coverage
For Fall 2027 MSc entry, admission does NOT include funding automatically. Funding comes from a merit-based university award, a faculty-sponsored research or teaching assistantship, or an approved government scholarship. Funded students get tuition, a monthly stipend, en-suite on-campus housing, health insurance, return airfare and visa sponsorship. The fee-based MSc in Applied AI (MAAI) gets no funding.
Amount
An older official page gave AED 8,000/month for international MSc students. A 2026 news report says AED 15,500/month. Neither figure is confirmed for 2027. Tuition waived when funded; free housing.
Fields
MSc Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, Robotics, Computer Science, plus newer programmes
Eligibility
Any nationality. Relevant STEM bachelor's degree. GPA guide is about 3.0–3.5/4 depending on the programme. SOP, research statement, referees, and a CV that shows technical depth.
English
IELTS Academic 6.5, TOEFL iBT 90, PTE 60, Duolingo 120, Cambridge C1 180 / C2 200. Only centre-based versions count. The FAQ waives the test only for a degree taught entirely in English in a country where English is both an official language and the dominant language of higher education. Whether a Pakistani English-medium degree qualifies is UNCLEAR, so ask admissions. A plain MOI letter alone is probably not enough.
GRE
Not required historically (unverified for 2027)
Bond / obligation
None found (UAE work after graduation is possible via an employer visa or the Golden Visa for outstanding graduates; not verified)
How to apply
  1. Read the 2027 graduate master's admissions page and choose one MSc (ML, CV or NLP fit your LLM/RAG and retinal-imaging background best).
  2. Email admissions asking whether a FAST-NUCES English-medium BS qualifies for the English waiver. If it does not, book IELTS 6.5 at a test centre (not online).
  3. Prepare your transcript, degree, CV, SOP, research statement and referee contacts. Link your projects or GitHub.
  4. Apply on the MBZUAI portal before 15 Dec 2026 and say you want to be considered for merit funding and RA/TA support.
  5. Email MBZUAI faculty whose labs match your interests, because faculty-sponsored RA funding is a main route to a stipend.
  6. Complete any assessment or interview. Decisions arrive by 31 Mar 2027.
KAUST MS + KAUST Fellowship (Computer Science / ECE / Statistics; AI research)
high fitopenSaudi Arabia · Gulf & Asia
Deadline: Fall 2027 (Round 2) opens 28 Sep 2026 and closes 3 Jan 2027. Decisions on 25 Feb 2027; classes start 29 Aug 2027. KAUST calls these dates tentative.

Fully funded, with no fee, no GRE, and work options in Saudi Arabia after graduation. The deadline is about 11 weeks away. The catches: IELTS 7.0 is unavoidable because MOI is not accepted, and a GPA of 3.41 sits around the median of admitted students, so research experience (the retinal multimodal DL project, LLM/RAG work) and strong references matter.

Host
King Abdullah University of Science and Technology
Coverage
Every admitted student automatically receives the KAUST Fellowship: full tuition, a living stipend, on-campus accommodation, health insurance and relocation assistance. There is no separate fellowship application.
Amount
Full tuition + stipend (KAUST does not publish the figure; third-party sites report about USD 20,000/yr for MS, unverified). KAUST says students spend about USD 1,320/month on average and the stipend 'more than covers' that. Free housing on campus.
Fields
Computer Science (MS and MS/PhD), Electrical & Computer Engineering, Statistics, Applied Math & Computational Science; AI/ML research groups inside these programmes
Eligibility
Any nationality. Bachelor's degree, minimum GPA 3.0/4. KAUST says about 90% of admitted applicants have GPA above 3.3 and 75% above 3.5. Must be at least 18. CV, statement of purpose, and 3 referees.
English
MOI certificates are NOT accepted, and KAUST says it grants no English waivers. The only exemption is a degree completed in person in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia or New Zealand. Accepted tests: IELTS 7.0 (6.5 in every band; IELTS Online accepted), TOEFL iBT 5 on the new 1-6 scale (4.5 in every section; Home Edition accepted), PTE 71 (67 in every section), Cambridge C1/C2 185. Duolingo is NOT accepted. You can submit the score after you apply, if your application progresses.
GRE
Not required (a strong score may help)

How to apply
  1. Create an account at apply.kaust.edu.sa and pick MS (or MS/PhD) in Computer Science for Fall 2027.
  2. Upload your transcript (a partial transcript is OK), CV, statement of purpose and passport page. Enter the details of 3 referees, who must submit within 7 days of the deadline.
  3. Book IELTS Academic (target 7.0 with 6.5 in every band) or TOEFL iBT. You can upload the score later if your application progresses.
  4. Submit by 3 Jan 2027. There is no application fee.
  5. Answer any interview invitation quickly. Decisions come out around 25 Feb 2027, and the fellowship terms are in the offer letter.

high fitopenMOI maybeQatar · Gulf & Asia
Deadline: Application opened 1 Oct 2026; deadline for international applicants 1 Feb 2027 (Fall 2027)

Doha is close to Pakistan and has a real tech job market. The stipend of about USD 1,900/month is enough to live on, and a GPA of 3.41 clears the 3.0 minimum. Konrad Zuse School of Excellence in Reliable AI (relAI) – MSc scholarship (TUM / LMU Munich)
high fitupcomingMOI okGermany · Germany & EU
Deadline: The 2026 MSc call is closed. The next call (for an Oct 2027 start) is not yet announced. One third-party site lists 22 Nov 2026 (unverified). Apply to the TUM/LMU MSc in parallel; most of those deadlines are end of May.

This is the best AI-specific funding found that explicitly accepts an English-taught degree instead of IELTS, and his LLM/RAG and medical-imaging work fits the reliable-AI topics. It is very competitive with a 3.41 CGPA, and TUM tuition for non-EU students adds cost.

Host
relAI (DAAD-funded Konrad Zuse School), TU Munich & LMU Munich
Coverage
Monthly scholarship for the remaining standard study period of the MSc, plus relAI training programme (modules, retreats, mentoring). TUM charges non-EU tuition, so check whether the stipend covers it.
Amount
Monthly stipend. The amount was not captured on the official page; one third-party listing cites €934/month (unverified).
Fields
MSc programmes in CS, mathematics, engineering, natural sciences, data science/ML/AI at TUM or LMU; topic must relate to reliable AI (safety, security, privacy, responsibility)
Eligibility
Excellent bachelor's in CS/math/engineering/related field. Must be (or become) enrolled in an eligible MSc at TUM or LMU; offers are conditional on admission. Two referees, a supervisor preference and a motivation statement are required.
English
C1 or equivalent. The official page also accepts 'proof that University degree was taught mainly in English', so an MOI letter from FAST should work. Note that TUM/LMU admission itself may have its own English rules.
GRE
Not required
Bond / obligation
None found
How to apply
  1. Watch zuseschoolrelai.de/application from Nov 2026 for the 2027 MSc call
  2. Pick 1–3 relAI faculty as preferred supervisors and draft a reliable-AI topic (e.g. trustworthy RAG / medical imaging robustness)
  3. Get the FAST MOI letter plus HEC-attested transcripts/degree
  4. Line up two referees (FAST FYP supervisor + Imperium Dynamics manager)
  5. Submit the relAI application online with CV, transcripts, motivation, supervisor choices and English proof
  6. Separately apply to an eligible TUM or LMU MSc (Informatics / Data Engineering & Analytics / Data Science) by its deadline (often 31 May)
  7. If selected, accept the relAI offer conditional on MSc admission
Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) 2027, Graduate University Track (e.g. KAIST, POSTECH, SNU, Korea Univ., Yonsei, UNIST, GIST)
high fitupcomingMOI okSouth Korea · Gulf & Asia
Deadline: 2027 University Track: each university publishes its own window, usually late Feb to late Mar 2027. Example from the previous cycle: 23 Feb to 20 Mar 2026. Results around end of June 2027.

This is one of the few fully funded options that does not require IELTS and is open to Pakistanis, and KAIST/POSTECH CS are strong in AI. The drawback is the compulsory Korean year (start would be 2027 language, 2028 degree), and the job market for English-only speakers is weaker than in the Gulf.

Host
NIIED / Korean Ministry of Education
Coverage
Full tuition, monthly living allowance, round-trip airfare, settlement allowance, medical insurance, a 1-year Korean language course, research allowance and completion grant
Amount
About KRW 1,000,000/month (graduate) + tuition + airfare + KRW 200,000 settlement (based on recent cycles; unverified for 2027)
Fields
Any field, including CS/AI at Korean universities that take part
Eligibility
Pakistani citizens are eligible (Pakistan is a GKS country). Under 40. Bachelor's degree with CGPA of 80% or higher (3.41/4 is fine). You may apply to only ONE university and one department on the University Track.
English
No IELTS is required to apply. TOPIK or English test scores (TOEFL/IELTS) earn extra points but are optional. The language year is in Korean. Many English-taught CS programmes accept an MOI or English-medium certificate (check each university).
GRE
Not required
Bond / obligation
None found (Korea offers a D-10 job-seeking visa after graduation)
How to apply
  1. From Jan 2027, watch studyinkorea.go.kr for the 2027 GKS Graduate Application Guidelines.
  2. Pick ONE university and department on the University Track list, ideally a lab whose professor you have emailed in advance.
  3. Get HEC-attested and apostilled degree and transcripts, a passport, 2 recommendation letters, a personal statement and a study plan (NIIED forms), plus a health form.
  4. Submit by post or online directly to the chosen university within its Feb–Mar 2027 window.
  5. University selection, then NIIED final selection in about June 2027, then the visa, then arrival around Aug 2027.
HKUST MPhil (research) in Computer Science & Engineering with Postgraduate Studentship (PGS)
high fitupcomingMOI maybeHong Kong · Gulf & Asia
Deadline: Fall 2027 RPG rounds are usually Dec 2026 to Feb 2027 for scholarship consideration (unverified)

A paid research master's at a top-50 university: the stipend of about USD 2,400/month easily covers tuition and rent, it may not need IELTS, and the IANG visa suits an earn-then-return plan. Competitive, so a research angle (retinal multimodal DL) is essential.

Host
Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
Coverage
A monthly Postgraduate Studentship for up to 2 years for full-time MPhil students. Tuition is charged to non-local students (the tuition waiver is for local students) but is usually far smaller than the PGS.
Amount
HK$19,135/month in 2025/26 (HK$229,620/yr in 2026/27, about USD 29,400/yr). Non-local tuition is about HK$42,100–49,500/yr (unverified).
Fields
MPhil Computer Science & Engineering, Electronic & Computer Engineering, AI thrust (Guangzhou campus)
Eligibility
Any nationality. Strong academics and research potential. Usually needs a supervisor willing to take you.
English
TOEFL iBT 80 / IELTS 6.5 unless your degree was taught in English. HKUST has accepted English-medium degrees as an exemption, but this is not verified for 2027.
GRE
Not required (optional)
Bond / obligation
None found (Hong Kong's IANG visa gives 2 years of open work after graduation)
How to apply
  1. Shortlist CSE faculty and email 3–5 of them with your CV and project summary (Nov 2026).
  2. Apply through the HKUST FYTGS online application for MPhil CSE, Fall 2027, before the first-round deadline.
  3. Upload your transcripts, CV, research statement and referee details, plus an English-medium proof or test score.
  4. Attend the interview. The PGS is stated in the offer.

  1. From January 2027, use the eligibility tool on the AKDN ISP page to get the Pakistan contact

28DIGITAL (formerly EIT Digital) Master School scholarships
medium fitupcomingMultiple · Germany & EU
Deadline: 2027/28 intake: Period 1 (for non-EU students needing a visa) runs 30 Oct 2026 – 31 Jan 2027, 23:59 CET

The AI/data tracks fit him well and the deadline is near. A tuition waiver alone does not cover living costs for two countries, and it effectively requires IELTS/TOEFL. Worth applying only for a full waiver plus a cheap entry country (e.g. Hungary/ELTE).

Host
28DIGITAL Education Foundation (EIT Digital), with partner universities (e.g. Aalto, KTH, TU Berlin, ELTE, BME, Turku, Twente and others)
Coverage
For all students: merit-based full or half tuition-fee waivers for 2 years. 'Scholarships of Excellence' (full waiver + living allowance) under EU projects are for EU/EEA citizens only. Some partner-university awards are open to non-EU students (e.g. ELTE up to €10,000/yr + €1,000 travel; BME up to €3,500/semester).
Amount
Full or half tuition waiver. Non-EU tuition is roughly €18,000/yr (unverified). No living allowance for non-EU students from 28DIGITAL itself.
Fields
Data Science, AI with Affective Computing, Autonomous Systems, Cloud/HPC, Cyber Security, FinTech, HCI/XR, Intelligent Chips and Systems
Eligibility
Relevant bachelor's. Two-year programme across an entry university and an exit university, plus an Innovation & Entrepreneurship minor. €75 application fee. A €500 deposit is required to secure awards of ≥50%.
English
University-specific tests. An MOI letter is generally NOT enough: e.g. Aalto needs TOEFL 92 / IELTS 6.5 and states that a university statement or proficiency letter is not sufficient. Exemptions exist only for degrees from listed countries (Pakistan is not listed).
GRE

Bond / obligation
None found
How to apply
  1. Portal opens 30 Oct 2026: create an account at masterschool.eitdigital.eu
  2. Choose a programme (e.g. Data Science or AI) and the entry/exit university pair

  5. In tab 4 of the portal, tick the 28DIGITAL scholarship and any partner-university scholarships (e.g. ELTE/BME)

  1. Count your full-time work months after graduation. You need 24 or more by the time ADB checks.
  2. Apply for admission to an AIT master's (for example Data Science & AI) online and tick ADB-JSP as the funding source.

  4. Take the AIT EET (online) or submit IELTS/TOEFL.
